Lt Gen (Ret.) Giovanni K. “GI” Tuck is a 33-year U.S. Air Force veteran and former Director for Logistics (J4), The Joint Staff, where he integrated logistics planning and execution in support of global military operations and assisted the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in fulfilling his responsibilities as principal military advisor to the President and Secretary of Defense.
Prior to serving on the Joint Staff, General Tuck commanded 18th Air Force, leading Air Mobility Command’s global air mobility operations. Throughout his military career, he held positions of increasing responsibility across logistics, transportation, mobility, operations, readiness, and strategic planning, with extensive experience supporting the Joint Force, U.S. allies, government agencies, and the defense industrial base.
A command pilot, General Tuck has flown the T-37, T-38, B-1B, C-141B, C-17A, C-21A, E-8C, KC-10A, KC-135R/T, RC-135V/W, and UH-1. His operational experience gives him a distinctive understanding of how readiness, sustainment, logistics, and mission execution come together at both the tactical and enterprise levels.
Following his Air Force career, General Tuck continued his public service as Deputy Director for Supply, Production and Distribution for the Federal COVID-19 Response, serving as a member of the Army Senior Executive Service. In that role, he applied his logistics and supply chain expertise to one of the nation’s most complex large-scale response efforts, helping coordinate supply, production, and distribution activities across government and industry.
Since transitioning to industry, General Tuck has focused on defense and government operations, sustainment and readiness, logistics and supply chain modernization, advanced training and simulation, operational transformation, strategic growth, and executive leadership. He has also led manufacturing and logistics operations encompassing engineering, supply chain management, production and distribution, and information technology.
Across his military, government, and industry experience, General Tuck is recognized for leading complex organizations, translating strategy into execution, building high-performing teams, strengthening organizational cultures, and bringing together military, government, industry, and international stakeholders to achieve mission-critical objectives.
